Infertility
Infertility is the problem which occurs to the couple when they are unable to conceive a child for one year of unprotected intercourse involving a male and female partner. According to research it is proved that 20-30% of infertility cases are due to male infertility and 20-35% of cases are due to female infertility. There are many causes of infertility, among them some are treated by medical intervention.
Infertility Treatments for women
The following are the Infertility Treatments for women:
- Clomiphene: This is the medication which is used to treat infertility in women who cannot ovulate. This drug helps to grow ovarian follicles which contain an egg. This is the first line of treatment for women who are younger than 39 and not having PCOS. This is the treatment which has to be taken once a day by mouth for 5 days.
- Metformin: If Clomiphene is unable to make the woman ovulate then the metformin treatment has to be done. Metformin helps to improve insulin resistance.
- Human chorionic gonadotropin: The Human chorionic gonadotropin is used together with clomiphene, and FSH. It encourages the ovary to produce multiple eggs.This medicine is either injected in a muscle or it may be given under the skin.
- Follicle-stimulating hormone: It is a hormonal stimulation which is produced by the pituitary gland that helps the ovaries to produce more mature egg follicles.There is a little risk to having a blood test, You may have slight pain at that place.
Infertility Treatments for Men
The following are the Infertility Treatments for men:
- Varicocele: Varicocele will be treated through surgery. Here the men varicose vein in the scrotum will be removed, which helps him in conceiving.
- Blockage of the ejaculatory duct: In this case the male member’s sperm can be extracted directly from his testicles and will be injected into an egg in the laboratory. A method to treating ejaculatory duct is transurethral resection of the ejaculatory ducts (TURED).
- Surgery for blockage in the epididymal: Surgery is the best option to treat the blocked epididymis. The epididymis is a coil like structure in the testicles that helps to store the sperm and transport. If the epididymis is blocked,The sperm may not be properly ejaculated.
Infertility diagnosis
Most people will visit the doctor if there is no pregnancy occurring after 1 year of regular intercourse. In case the woman’s age is above the 35 the couple has to visit the doctor soon. Because the fertility in women will drop at the age of 30.
Doctor will give advice and carry out some assessments to make them conceive. It is an advice for the couple that they visit the doctor she might ask about the couple’s sexual habits and according to that she make recommendations. And then tests and treatments are done according to their health conditions.
